Why does this not surprise me? Because, after 30 years in this field I’ve seen the “real” ROI on solutions. Many times the additional resource cost is minimized and the savings grossly overstated.
Medsphere is continuing to push Vista. It will be interesting to see their progress by HIMSS in Atlanta next year.
This looked like it might have been an interesting event. Are they planning on hosting something in 2010?
The first areas they will focus on are clinical notes and pathology reports.
It would be nice to see some attendance from the healthcare community at the event next year.
We still have the struggle of acceptance within the healthcare community. Open Source solutions are new to physicians but not the IT staff.
Kolodner has joined the Open Source healthcare bandwagon. Let’s hope his influence within the various branches of government will provide support and funding for open source solutions.
